Jnanakalpa Education Trust

Prof. Gopalkrishna Revankar Jnanakalpa Education Trust is established for the education and exposure to hidden talent among the poor students of Daivajna Brahmin and other communities. The Trust aims at bringing a change in society with improved economic conditions using education and training for empowerment and promotion of society.

Immense inspiration has been drawn from Prof Emeritus Gopalkrishna Narasinh Revankar whose desire was to provide assistance to the poor needy students in completing their education. He donated Rs 10 million as a corpus fund for the Trust for merit based educational sponsorship for meritorious underprivileged children. The Trust is named after the initiator and originator Prof Gopalkrishna Revankar.

About
Professor Emeritus Gopalkrishna Narasinh Revankar was the founder of the Trust. He was ever cheerful, unmindful of his comforts, he was always active.

Such people are rare and the Daivazna Brahmin community is blessed indeed to have such a genius. He feels that education is vital for overall progress of any community. It is this vision that saw the birth of this Trust.

 

Education is the unique key that opens up a whole new world of opportunities, yet thousands of the  underprivileged are deprived of the service, especially the children are forced to be illiterate and live in poverty. This Trust is a significant effort of Prof G N Revankar to repay the society that has nurtured him.

Founder
Shri Gopalkrishna Narasinh Revankar

He had his Matriculation from Sri Marikamba High School, Sirsi. He completed Inter Science securing first rank, from Karnataka College, Dharwad. In Inter Science, he scored 114/100 in Algebra which is still an outstanding record. He graduated in B E (Telecom), securing second rank from Pune University in the year 1953.

 

After an initial short period of service in the Overseas Communication Service he joined I.I.T., Bombay as faculty. He was deputed to USSR on UNESCO fellowship for a period of two years to get specialized training in Electron Devices Technology. 

 

He has guided a large number of B Tech, M Tech and Ph. D projects mainly on hardware topics in electronic instrumentation and power electronics. He has published more than 130 papers in National and International Journals in the field of power electronics mainly dealing with simulation, design aspects, new power circuit configurations etc. He has set up a number of PG & UG laboratories at the Electrical Engineering Department at I I T., Bombay.

 

He has number of prestigious awards from JIETE and JIE (Electrical section) for his contribution of outstanding papers published in the journals. Notable among them are K.S.Krishnan memorial award in 1984, CDIL award in 1984 & 1985 for his papers published in JIETE. He has bagged the Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya Memorial Gold Medal during 1982-83 and 1983-84, and the President of India prize for 1982-83 and 1983-84 for his publications in JIE.

 

He has donated his savings for a very noble cause of helping the poor needy students frame their career. He passed away on 11th Sept 2012.

Mission:

To identify meritorious underprivileged students from the Daivajna Brahmin and other communities and provide them education related support. To conduct capacity building workshop career guidance seminars and personality development programmes for students. To liaise with other organizations for professional support and fulfillment of Trust’s goals and objectives.

Vision:

To provide support for education both monetary and in the form of material needs like books, instruments & accommodation costs etc. for the meritorious unprivileged children from Daivajna Brahmin and other communities and thus try to improve the living conditions of the poor.

People behind the Trust


The trust is being run and managed by a very competent and devoted team. Some of the more noteworthy names include:

Team Head

Sri B S Revankar

With a view to ensure that the Trust remains his primary concern, he took VRS fromCEDOK. An accredited Trainer from EDI, he had graduated from IIT Madras and also completed PGDHRM from Pondicherry University.

Secretary

Prof. V A Raikar

Former VC of Sanjay Ghodavat University, Kolhapur has rich experience of Engineering Colleges. In addition he is on the Expert committee of NAAC, MBA and UGC.

Trustee

Prof. K Sudha Rao

She has been a full bright scholar from Harvard University. she obtained her doctorate from Delhi University and worked at National University of Educational planning and Administration (NIEPA) as a Senior Professor and Head Education Policy & Higher Education Departments.
Her other academic achievements include Vice Chancellor of KSOU Mysore, Executive Director and Member Secretary, Karnataka knowledge Commission and Senior Advisor to AICTE New Delhi.
She continues to be National Fellow of ICSSR, New Delhi.

He is an ex service man, & retired as Senior faculty of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Dharwad. He has a rich experience of 30 years in teaching.

Shri Dayanand Shet

As in other parts of India, so in Karnataka poor parents have no choices but to withdraw their children from school and put them as a child laborers. It is a tough job persuading such parents to send their children to school. The task is being very ably performed by Shri Vinayak Shet, Shri Ashok Revankar & Shri Dayanand Shet by visiting the families and convincing them to send the children to school.

has been a social service person in her passion to serve the society. She has been teaching Maths and English to the poor students from schools up to 10th standard.
